Types of Braces

American Empower Braces

American Empower Braces

The Empower system by American Orthodontics is our standard metal bracket, but it is anything but standard. The bracket is self-ligated meaning that a metal clip holds the wire in place rather than rubber O-rings or ties. This offers many advantages including better hygiene and more efficient leveling and alignment in many types of cases. The bracket also has a nice, small appearance and is one of the lowest profile brackets on the market (bracket thickness). If a patient desires to change "colors" on their braces, don't worry, we reward good hygiene by placing the colors on the upper incisors so that they can show off their braces proudly if they want to.

Damon Clear Braces

Damon Clear TeenThe Damon clear bracket is also a self-ligated bracket and offers all of those advantages (better hygiene, efficient alignment/leveling, etc.). The unique aspect of the Damon Clear System is that it is truly the best looking clear bracket available. Because it has a clear door that holds the wire in the bracket it 100% clear and never stains because we do not need to place clear ties to hold the wire in. The clear ties on other clear bracket systems unfotunately stain yellow over time from food and liquids such as coffee, soda, red wine, tomato based sauces, etc. With the Damon Clear system, you can be confident that the braces will look as good during treatment as they did they day they went on.

Invisalign

InvisalignThe Invisalign system is perfect for adult and older teen patients who desire to avoid wearing braces but would still like to improve their bite and smile. Invisalign consists of a series of custom clear trays or aligners that are usually worn two weeks at a time. Each new set of trays moves the teeth incrementally until the desired result is achieved. Invisalign has made some excellent advances recently that has expanded the types of cases it can be effective in. Whether it is the Invisalign Express product for minor cases or Comprehensive Invisalign for more complex cases, Invisalign is a good option for many patients. During the consultation Dr. Barnett can discuss if Invisalign is an option for you or your teenager's particular case along with our metal and clear braces systems.
